Nov. 30, 2020
Per a unanimous decision of the Mansfield Municipal Authority Board, water/sewer shut offs will resume for nonpayment of bills for some customers. The current policy is in line with the most recent directive from the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC).
Please note that customers who meet a certain income threshold are exempt from this order. Generally, the guideline is 300 percent of the federal poverty rate. If you fall within the income guidelines and you submit a request for a waiver, your utility service will not be terminated at this time. A form to request a shut off waiver is posted here: requirements.pdf qualification_form.pdf
Forms are also available at the Borough office. Please return the form to the drop box, via mail or via email as the Borough office is currently closed to the public. Be sure to include a daytime phone number in case we have additional questions.
We do ask that you work with us to set up a payment plan, even if you do not meet the income guidelines, as this will help keep your bill from getting out of control. Please keep in mind that the PUC plans to revisit this matter in the late winter or early spring, 2021 and we will follow their guidelines. We do not anticipate that the PUC will authorize or require any type of forgiveness of past due utility balances and we ask that you plan accordingly.
